Circa 1970s

Lizardman cheeseboards are rare to the market. The board is of spade shape with a separately carved handle which is pinned to the board through the underside. Presented in superb waxed condition and medium honey colour, only ever used as a display piece,
with  his later trademark Lizard carved prominently in high relief to the board.

Derek trained under Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger and his early solo work features a fish carving. He  then adopted the lizard  from Martin Dutton, but their carving is  distinguishable from each other.
