Circa 1930s
A superb and rare find, an early Mouseman three legged Milking Stool with a highly prized burr oak seat of irregular form which pre-dates the kidney shape that became the standard seat shape on post war stools. Adzed all over to the seat and legs, as expected, with a signature mouse carved to one of the splayed tapering octagonally carved legs. Darker fumed from new, after a clean and polish with clear Liberon wax it presents in a beautiful natural warm brown colour. All the legs are solid with evidence of two wedged tennon joints having an additional wedge inserted at some point in the past to rectify the expected normal age related joint shrinkage.
Size: 39(w) x 32(d) x 45.5(h) seat dimensions, maximum leg splay 51cm.
