Circa 1960s

A superb example of an early Wilf Hutchinson ‘Squirrelman’ Book Trough. Extensively adzed to all panels in line with early craftsmanship and featuring one of the finest and most detailed squirrel carvings we have seen on any of his work.

Excellent sound condition with a rich warm aged colour and patina, early made examples are  rare to the market.

Wilf trained  and worked under Robert Thompson in the 1950s, leaving to set up his own business in nearby Husthwaite in 1957. He was joined there later by his son Trevor, who continues the business today.
