Circa 1950s/early 60s

An excellent panelled  and pinned Yorkshire Oak  Chest or Drawers or Dressing Table from former mouseman craftsman Sid Pollard. Features  a rear upstand, a dowel pinned top, panelled sides and 2 short over 2 long graduated drawers with wooden Arts  and Crafts style handles. Complete with its original adjustable bevelled glass mirror  which fits quickly to the rear if purchasers wish to use it as a dressing table. The top originally featured an unusual  bespoke commissioned kidney shaped top, we’ve had this original top squared off  to make it a more balanced and visually appealing piece, the work skilfully undertaken by our ex mouseman  craftsman and regular colleague Gavin at Lily Furniture.

Wonderful condition after a clean and re-wax with a rich natural depth of aged colour, some minor natural age related shrinkage to the drawer bases.

As is typical of Sid’s work it is unmarked, he preferred to let his carftsmanship speak for itself. Believed to have been made as part of a full bedroom suite for the landlady of one of Sid’s regular pubs in Stokesley, North Yorkshire. It is a companion piece to the Wardrobe, stock reference DS1644.
