Stock ref: DS1545
Circa late 1950s / early 60s
An excellent example of a vintage Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Four Branch Ceiling Chandelier. Features a central octagonal ceiling boss supporting a central octagonally carved port with four radiating arms, each fitted with upwards facing antique brass light fittings. The whole piece is adzed in line with early mouseman craftsmanship and a fine trademark mouse is carved in high relief to the centre stem.
Privately acquired from the original owners family home in York, together with a 1950s octagonal table and bespoke monks chair, it was in working order prior to removal from the ceiling. However, the wiring was in a dreadful and unsafe condition on examination so all the original wiring has been replaced with new 3 core earthed flex, fitted to new earthed antique brass bulb holders.
Wonderful rich colour and aged patina, just a slight splinter loss visible to the top of the ceiling boss around the screw holes (see image gallery below)
High quality english parchment shades can be purchased directly from Robert Thompson’s if required.
The current design of these 4 branch chandeliers costs £ 1,780 to purchase new from Robert Thompson’s Craftsmen Ltd making this vintage adzed piece superb value.
Size: 44(dia) x 51(h)cm overall, ceiling boss 17.5(dia)cm.
