Stock ref: DS1684
Circa 1940s
An excellent earlier made example of the Robert Mouseman Thompson Oak Ashtray. Of characteristic rectangular form with carved and tooled bowl and a very fine and distinctive carved mouse. The ashtrays are no longer made by Robert Thompson’s but were sold in large numbers so are relatively common, however earlier made examples are subtly different having larger diameter bowls, higher backed mice, smaller canted corners and sometimes, but not always, smaller cut-outs for the cigarettes. Excellent condition with a wonderful depth of colour following a gentle clean and re-wax following our acquisition directly from the relatives of an ex mouseman craftsman, together with a matching early double pin tray (see stock ref: DS1683). Whilst the two pieces are listed separately it would be nice to see them remain together so preference will be given to clients willing to purchase both pieces.
