Stock ref: DS1804
Circa early 1970s
A rare early 9 3/4″ shallow oak fruitbowl with a carved and rolled lip from the workshop of ex mouseman craftsman Peter ‘rabbitman’ Heap of Wetwang, near Driffield. Only a handful are known to have been made by Peter as the rolled edge was very time consuming to carve. A delightful small rabbit is carved to the centre of the bowl. Dark fumed from new but the bowl had been crudely painted with protective dark stained varnish prior to our aquisition. This has all been carefully cleaned off to reveal the wonderful natural graining and fumed colour of the wood. Natural minor age related wood splits are visible in the wood grain.
