Circa 1960s/early 70s
A superb example of a Sid Pollard leather seated oak dressing stool. Four turned carved legs are joined by stretchers, all sound and tight, the framework cleaned and re-waxed in our workshop. Retains it’s original aniline cow hide seat which has a lovely patina and we’ve fed with an appropriate hide conditioner, held in place by antiqued brass upholstery studs. As is typical of his work it is unmarked, he always preferred to let his craftsmanship speak for itself. Together with his elder brother he was one of Robert Thompson’s early trained craftsmen and his carving and carpentry skill is distinctive to those who know and appreciate his work.
Shown photographed next to a slightly smaller Sid Pollard stool of the same age and original ownership which we also have for sale (see DS1808)
