Stock ref: DS2613
Circa 1970s
An unusual bespoke commissioned portable solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Steps, beautifully and solidly constructed with a signature mouse carved to the edge of the central riser.
Ideal for use as intended, or, we think it would make a wonderful tiered stand for plants or sculptures.
Cleaned and re-waxed it presents beautifully, just the expected minor indents in the upper flat sections from shoe heels etc over the years.
Provenance: bought directly from the Priory Methodist Church in Doncaster who commissioned it as part of renovations and alterations undertaken in the mid 1970s. Originally opened in 1832 as a Weslayan Chapel with capacity for 400, it finally closed its doors due to falling attendance in 2021. The building is currently for sale.
