Circa 1930s/40s
An excellent and rare early Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Spinning Stool, by repute originally from The Forresters Arms pub, next door to Robert Thompson’s, who had a large collection of early Mouseman pieces at one time. Subtly adzed all over with a large shaped seat with back splat featuring a prominently carved mouse signature to one edge. Supported on three octagonally carved and tapered splayed legs which are visibly wedged through the seat.
Rich darker fumed colour and patina, the leg joints robust and solid, with no loose joints where the back splat is jointed to the seat.
Size: 46(w) x 46(d) x 81(h)cm overall, seat 41(w) x 35(d), seat height 44cm.
