Circa 1950’s
Of solid rectangular form on 4 square and octagonally carved legs with visible dowelled joints and plain stretchers. The wood has a lovely deep honey colour and aged patina. The cushioned leather top is inset with domed brass upholstery pins. All original
with superb patination, free from water staining, just the expected light creasing to edges. Regular treatment annually with a leather conditioner will keep it supple and stop it drying out.
Size: 39.5(w) x 31(d) x 46(h) cm
Almost all Sid Pollard’s work is unmarked, he preferred to be know ‘for being unknown’. He lived in Bagby, near Thirsk and was one of R. Thompson’s early apprentices. He eventually left to set up his own workshop, and examples
of his solo work usually date from 1940’s to early 60‘s.
