Circa 1950‘s / early 60’s
Refectory style coffee table featuring a single plank adzed rectangular top, four inset octagonally carved and adzed legs on two sledge feet, joined by a stretcher at floor level. Adzeing to all visible surfaces and in excellent condition with a wonderful
deep golden colour and patination.
Sid Pollard’s work is unmarked but this piece is provenanced by Tennants, Leyburn.

Sid Pollard lived in Bagby, near Thirsk and was one of R. Thompson’s early apprentices. His work is almost always unmarked, preferring to be known for being unknown, most of his solo work dates from the 40’s through to the early 60‘s.
