Circa 1980
Rare solid mahogany pair of wine tables from Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger at Acorn Industries. Alan and Bob Hunter the ‘Wrenman’ are amongst the few Yorksire makers who have offered items in other solid hardwoods, alongside the oak ranges for which
they are better known. Swept tripod legs, a turned central pedestal featuring the trademark incised acorn carving and a lovely scallop edged table top with ilay line banding. Both in wonderful condition and carefully used.
Part of a range of mahogany acornman pieces acquired from a private estate near York.
Handmade to the same exacting standards as the oak ranges. Originally costing about the same prices as the equivalent oak items they now represent great value compared to the currently more fashionable oak pieces.
Size: 42.5(w) x 42.5(d) x 57.5(h), top 35(dia) cm
