Stock ref: DS1352
1982
Rare solid mahogany standard lamp from Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger at Acorn Industries. Alan and Bob Hunter the ‘Wrenman’ are amongst the few Yorksire makers who have offered items in other solid hardwoods, alongside the oak ranges for which they are better known. Octagonal base with one facet featuring the trademark incised carved acorn, long tapering octagonal stem featuring inlays to alternate facets. In lovely condition and working order, just a few minor usage knocks / scratches, originally made to match the table lamp (stock ref DS1352).
Part of a range of mahogany acornman pieces acquired from a private estate near York, the original invoice confirming it was purchased new on 5/5/82.
Handmade to the same exacting standards as the oak ranges. Originally costing about the same prices as the equivalent oak items the mahogany pieces now represent great value compared to the currently more fashionable oak pieces.
Size: 30.5(dia) x 150(h) excl bulb fitting.
