A superb 5’6″ long refectory style oak dining table and 6 dining chairs from the deceased former Mouseman craftsman Albert ‘Eagleman’ Jeffray of Sessay, near Thirsk.
The table features an adzed four plank top which is unusually wide at 92cm ( Mouseman 5′, 6′ 7′ tables are 87.5cm wide, 8′ 91.5cm wide), supported by square and octagonally carved baluster legs supported by a lower adzed stretcher and sledge feet. Albert’s trademark eagle is incised prominently into one of the facets of the leg.
The 6 oak framed dining chairs retain their original fawn coloured leather, which is in excellent condition, and feature carved tudor rose backs. The webbed undersides still retain their original Sept 1990 dated fire safety standard compliance labels.
Privately acquired from the original owner from a village close to Knaresborough, together with a sideboard which is currently being prepared for sale. Clearly cherished and well looked after since purchase from new in 1990, the table and chairs have nevertheless been gently cleaned and re-waxed by us to our usual very high standards prior to sale. The set presents in wonderful condition in a warm light / medium oak colour.
