Stock ref: DS3010
Circa early 1900s
A beautifully original and unrestored solid oak 3’6″ wide arts and crafts period wardrobe by the Gillows of Lancaster trained craftsman Arthur W Simpson who established his own business in Windermere and later Kendal.
Of understated panelled form with twin doors which feature typical Simpson flower head and petal carved details and Rathbone brass door handles. There’s a working lock and key. Clean interior with hanging rail, three brass coat hooks and Simpson’s applied Handicrafts label. The original brass left door closures are present but incomplete so do not function, supplemented in the past by a more modern fixing. It looks as though it has had a lower shelf in the past but this is no longer present.
Wonderful sound original condition, rich dark oak colour.
Privately sourced from the original owners family.
