Circa 1980s

No longer sold and quite rare to the market so keenly sought after both by collectors and smokers alike. The hand carved oak surround is octagonally shaped, each facet adzed to reflect the light and highlight the grain. A signature mouse is carved in
high relief to one facet.  Wonderful rich depth of colour to the wood which is free from any evidence of damage or staining. Original baize lining to the underside.

The lighter is the original fitment, a gas filled piezo ignition lighter, clean, in full working order and fully gassed. It is removable from the surround for filling and maintenance. Very slight evidence of old tarnish to the metal in crevices and hard
to reach areas and a very small piece has been re-glued in the past, visible in the photo’s.

Please note that if postage is required the gas will have to be removed.

An interesting and characterful example of an older and well used  ‘Mouseman’ 12″ breadboard, oiled regularly throughout its life with olive /vetegable oil which gives the wood its characteristic colour. Lovely carved mouse in high relief which is
free from any damage. The board carved from a single plank of quater sawn oak which shows off the natural medullary ray figuring in the oak.

Recently cleaned, disinfected and dried of oil residues, ready for re-oiling if a purchaser wishes to use the board or for waxing if to be displayed.

Circa 1930s

Superb and rare pair of early 11″ tall octagonal Mouseman candlesticks with a typically early mouse carved to a facet on one of the candlesticks. The octagonal bases has been carved separately and wedge jointed from underneath to the stick columns. Wonderful
rich depth of colour and patina with no losses or repairs, just very slight natural age related shrinkage  to the wedge joint on the underside.

Regularly used as intended they were originally given as a gift by Robert Thompson to a family relative, together with a fruitbowl (stock ref: DS1242), and hence by family decent prior to my purchase.

Size: 10(dia) x 28(h)cm,  4″ x 11″,  each.
