We’ve always loved these solid oak Bob ‘Wrenman’ Hunter Pin Dishes, infact these pieces and his napkin rings are what started David’s passion in all things ‘Yorkshire Critters’ shortly after we moved to North Yorkshire in 1995 and Bob gifted a number of pieces to his wife Paula as a special personal thankyou.

Exquisitely observed and carved, as always.

We think there’s the tiniest of nicks on the wren’s beak, a very common issue on the vintage pieces as they are so delicatly carved.  Other than that it can’t be faulted.

Circa 1940s / early 50s

A superb earlier made example of the  extremely popular solid English oak Book Trough / Rack  from the workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Rich fumed colour with adzing to the sides, book rest and the rear of the piece, in line with earlier craftsmanship. In later years there is progressively less adzing on these items. Excellent mouse carving, carved running upwards which is harder to carve as it’s against the grain of the wood.
