Circa late 1970s

Known originally and still sold  new by Robert Thompson’s as a ‘Smoking Chair’, albeit in a different size, these cow hide slung and cushioned chairs are wonderfully comfortable to lounge and relax in….. ideally with a good glass of wine and a book in our view.

This example presents in excellent condition and is in the earlier made height of 102 cm, they are now 112cm. Mouseman collectors will appreciate that the cow hide used  on the back is a very thick untreated aniline hide which does mark easily and deepen in colour with age. The cushion is also excellent with no stains, tears or loose stiching. A signature mouse  is carved prominently to the front leg. The wooden frame has been cleaned and wax polished, the cow hide cleaned and conditioned in our workshop.

Circa late 1920s / early 30s

A very rare and beautifully coloured and patinated  early Burr Oak Fruitbowl by Robert Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn. Adzed and toolled all over with a very well defined early mouse carving to the  exterior side of the bowl, positioned close to some particularly fine burrs on the exterior side of the bowl.  The bowl has a very  solid thick rim and sides, presumed necessary to allow for the natural irregular grain cracking and holes associated with burr oak. Darker fumed from new it presents with a beautiful rich dark colour and aged patina. It is a wonderful collector’s piece.
