Circa 1950s/early 60s

An excellent example of a Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Stool with a traditional woven leather seat. Of typical rectangular form with four carved legs joined by stretchers and a trademark mouse carved to a facet of one leg. Medium fumed from new it presents in excellent solid condition with a rich and nicely aged colour and patina. The original leather seat also presents in good usable condition and aged colour.

Circa 1950s / 60s

A wonderful example of the  highly popular solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Standard Lamp, the tapered adzed octagonally carved central column leading down to a stepped, swept and facetted octagonal base with  a mouse signature in high relief. There’s a small chip to one ear of the mouse carving.

Superb waxed colour and patina, new earthed brass bayonet bulb fitting and rewired  with new period braided 3 core wire and plug.

Circa 1900-1929

Genuine A W Simpson of Kendal Arts and Crafts oak Serving Trolley. Of rectangular  two tier form standing on its original brass and rubber castors with a pull out partitioned drawer and swivelling extending top. Correct ‘Handicrafts’ label and stamped with the number 8960 stamped into the wood, dating the piece to either circa 1900, 1921 or 1929. Collectors will know that the codes were re-started each time they got to 10,000, so do repeat, making it difficult to date pieces exactly.

Presents in wonderful condition, the wood displaying a lovely dark oak colour which we’ve re-waxed. The inner drawer looks to have been recently been baize lined, and we’ve had to re-glue  a small section of the top edge upstand a showroom visitor broke whilst opening out the top incorrectly.

An excellent unused example of a vintage Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson  solid oak Ashtray with the larger diameter bowl and smaller canted corners than is found on more modern examples. Wonderful rich fumed colour with a well defined mouse carving.

Circa mid 1950s/mid 60s

An excellent pair of the rare and sought after early Napkin Rings from the Kilburn workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Of typical carved octagonal form these early examples, with a height of 1 1/2″  are smaller in height and diameter than later made versions. Excellent condition  and colour with particularly well carved mice. One facet of each is carved with the first name of the original owners.

Circa 1970s/80s

Yorkshire Critters table lamps don’t appear on the market with any regularity so we are pleased to present this excellent example of a  Table Lamp from the now closed Acorn Industries workshop of  Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger. Of carved and shaped octagonal form with protective leather to the underside. Modern earthed brass fitting with 3 core wiring and 3 amp fused plug it presents in superb clear wax polished condition and is in full working order.

1986

A rare to find piece from Thomas ‘Gnomeman’ Whittaker, made in the last few years of his life. Adzed all over and features shaped trestle sides joined by a  pegged stretcher with a fall front which has a carved tudor / yorkshire rose inset into the front supported by two pull out lopers.  Inset leather writing desk  and storage compartments internally, two drawers below. Exceptionally clean and well looked after. Marked in typical fashion with Thomas Whittakers trademark gnome carving.

Previously sold by us, bought back in part exchange for another more expensive piece of Gnomeman furniture.

Circa 1980s

A superb 10 seater dining set from the ex Mouseman craftsman Wilf ‘Squirrelman’ Hutchinson who set up his own business in 1957. It continues today in the capable hands of his son, Trevor.

Features a 7’6″ x 3’2″ adzed oak refectory style dining table, supported on trestle legs with sledge feet, joined by a pegged stretcher. Wilf’s signature squirrel is carved prominently to one leg. The set includes 8 dining and 2 carver armchairs, all with their original deep green lether upholstery which presents in wonderful condition. Each chair back is handcarved with a Yorkshire / Tudor rose back, always a more labour intensive and costly option to purchase new than the usual lattice or solid panel back chairs. Each chair also features a carved squirrel signature.

Wonderful original condition and a warm medium fumed and waxed colour.

Excellent value, this set would cost  in excess of £ 8,500 to purchase new today.
