Circa 1950s

A superb example of an early Mouseman Book Trough, extensively adzed to all visible surfaces including the rear. The amount of adzing has been reduced over the years and since the late 70s only the quadrant sides have been adzed.  Presents in excellent condition with a wonderful patina  and rich aged colour tones.  It also features an upwards facing carved  mouse which is rarer to find on these book troughs as they are harder to carve against the grain.

An excellent example of an earlier made Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson  solid oak Ashtray with the larger diameter bowl and smaller canted corners than is found on more modern examples. Superb natural rich fumed colour with a well defined mouse carving.

Circa 1960s

A superb example of a rare to market shallow solid oak Fruitbowl from the ex Mouseman craftsman Don ‘Foxman’ Craven who established and operated  his  Aldborough Woodcrafts  business with Bob Hunter in the 1960s and 70s. Adzed and  tooled all over in typical Mouseman and Yorkshire Critters style. His trademark carved seated fox sits prominently in the centre of the bowl.

Superb condition and colour with no faults or losses, wax polished, privately acquired.

An exceptional and possibly unique  16″ x 6″ x 6″ Oak Trinket / Keepsake Box from the ex Mouseman craftsman and original ‘Foxman’ Don Craven who established and operated  his  Aldborough Woodcrafts  business with Bob Hunter in the 1960s and 70s. Circa 1960s

A superb and rare to market example of a large solid English oak  ‘Foxman’ Ashtray by the ex mouseman craftsman Don Craven. After leaving Robert Thompson’s  he worked with Bob Hunter and established Aldborough Woodcrafts in Boroughbridge, adopting a seated, bushy tailed fox as his trademark, whilst in business in the 1960s and 70s. The fox trademark was  later revived and adopted by Malcolm Pipes in the 1980s, albeit with a different carved fox signature.

Superb condition and colour, privately acquired from a relative of Don’s.

Circa  2010

A superb pair of nearly new examples of the extremely comfortable Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Smoking Armchair with solid oak framework and a thick slung tan coloured cowhide seat back and cowhide seat custion. A trademark mouse is carved in high relief to the front leg of each chair. Privately sourced directly from the original owners the chairs  have had minimal usage in the original owners study. 

Photographed in ‘as acquired’ condition we will be cleaning and rewaxing the frames to freshen them up for  the new owners, the untreated cow hide seats are just starting to exhibit  the usual expected characteristic  marking seen on all these untreated cow hides.

Currently £ 2,040 each to purchase new from Robert Thompson’s Craftsmen Ltd.

A superb 10″ Mouseman Table Lamp from Robert Thompson’s in Kilburn, near Thirsk. Of typical form with square base and octagonally carved  and tooled central stem and a nicely detailed mouse carved to one facet. Rewired with new 3 core period style braided  wiring, antiqued brass bulb holder and plug. Presents in a wonderful colour with no faults / losses.

Circa 1960s/70s

A  rare bespoke commissioned  large 8 branch solid English Oak Circular Ceiling Chandelier from the renowned ex Mouseman  and ‘Yorkshire Critters’ craftsman Sid Pollard, the carved arms radiating out from a central octagonal boss to earthed  brass bayonet bulb holders which face downwards. All the modern earthed wiring looks to be in place ready to wire back into place, but it is supplied untested. As is typical of Sid’s solo work,and unique amongst the ‘Yorkshire Critters,’ his work is unmarked, he preferred to let his craftsmanship speak for itself.

Excellent condition structurally, medium oak colour.

Circa 1950s

A superb example of the earlier made 12″ tall Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson solid English Oak Table Lamp, of typical form with the octagonally carved and tapered central stem leading down to a square base with leaf forms carved to the four corners.  An excellently carved mouse is carved prominently to the centre of the stem. Darked fumed from new it presents with a rich warm brown colour tone and no faults or losses. Rewired with new period  3 core earthed braided wiring, new antiqued brass bayonet bulb holder and 3 amp fused plug.
