Circa 1950s / early 60s

A superbly coloured and patinated  example of the rare to market earlier made Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Bedside Bookcase. Unlike more modern made examples  it is adzed to the sides as well as the top with a very finely carved mouse incised into the lower side panel. Two adjustable shelves with a full compliement of shelf supports. Excellent condition and deep rich colour.

Circa late 1920s / early 30s

A superb example of a rare and very  early rectangular  3′ wide solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Console Table or Desk. Adzed all over including the rear, rear upstand with visible nail pinning to the circumference edges of the adzed  top, two drawers below and standing on four  beautifully carved  legs joined by a stretcher.  A fine example of an early mouse is carved in high relief to the front right leg. Initialed M.F.B. to the front centre, although we have so far been unable to idenify the name. 

All the joints are solid, and the piece presents in a rich deep colour and patina, there’s just a natural fine hairline split in the wood on the top, shown in the image gallery below. 

A wonderful piece for collectors who appreciate early mouseman furniture.

Circa 1960s

A rare solid oak Hat and Coat Stand from the ex mouseman craftsman and original ‘Foxman’ Don Craven, few of these items ever being made or coming to market from any of the Yorkshire Critters craftsmen.

It stands solidly on four crossed feet, one of which features his carved seated fox trademark, joined to an octagonally carved and facetted central boss and central column. Beatifully detailed to the  domed octagonally carved top with wooden pegs none of which are broken or loose. Excellent rich naturally aged colour and patina, just very slight loss to the facial features on the fox carving.

Circa 1960s

An excellent example of the sought after earlier made Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Tallboy which is adzed to the framework and drawers.  Features a penny moulded top with mouse carved in high relief to one corner, panelled cupboard with  traditional wrought iron fittings, twin opening doors and inner fixed shelf. Below are  two short and 2 long storage drawers with wooden knob handles. Excellent original condition inside and out, nevertheless  we have cleaned and re-waxed for clients prior to sale. Wonderful natural rich colour and patina.

Circa 1990s / 00s

A superb example of a rare to market  solid oak Standard Lamp from the workshop of ex mouseman craftsman Colin ‘Beaverman’ Almack. Much more detailed than their normal stock standard lamp, it  features a handcarved tudor rose  circular base which supports the central carved column with their distinctive beaver carved prominently. Modern 3 core wiring with brass bulb fitting, and new 3amp fused plug.

Superb waxed condition with no losses, golden oak colour.

Circa 1960s/70s

An excellent example of an Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger Large Oak Freestanding Glazed Corner Display Cabinet from  their Acorn Industries workshops at Brandsby, near York. Fully adzed to all visible panels with traditional wrought iron fittings. The upper section has lockable twin glazed panel doors which open to reveal three fitted oak shelves, below is a lockable shelved cupboard with twin oak panelled doors. 

Excellent condition and rich medium oak colour, rewaxed and cleaned in our workshop. 

We’ve fitted a new brass lock with keys to the upper section, the original keys were missing.

Circa 1980s/90s

A superb example  of the popular  4′ wide x 5’6″ tall solid english oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Wardrobe featuring  their trademark penny moulded  top frieze, panelled sides and twin panelled doors with traditional wrought iron fittings. Internally there is a  full width oak hanging rail and too the  lower right a removable  three shelf unit. A trademark mouse is carved in relief into the front corner edge. Unlike earlier made versions these more modern made wardrobes have been designed to be disassembled if required for ease of movement and transport around the home.

Purchased in superb condition internally and externally , nevertheless we have cleaned and waxed  the exterior prior to sale.

Great value as they are currently £ 7,650 to purchase new from Robert Thompson’s Craftsmen Ltd.

An excellent example of the highly popular solid oak Bedside Cabinet from the Kilburn workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Adzed to the top with panelling all round, and a well carved mouse to the front canted corner, an inner shelf and traditional wrought iron fittngs. Cleaned and waxed it presents in excellent condition inside and out.

An excellent example of a 19″ wide solid oak Book Trough from the ex mouseman craftsman Wilf ‘Squirrelman’ Hutchinson of typical rectangular form with shaped quadrant ends which are wonderfully grained and a beautifully detailed squirrel carved to the top of one end. Initialled to the underside TH, made by Wilf’s son Trevor who now operates the business on his own following his father’s death a few years ago.
