An excellent example of the popular 3′ refectory style Coffee Table from the workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Features a rectangular single plank adzed top supported on two carved baluster legs with sledge feet, joined by a stretcher. Excellant condition and medium fumed colour, minimal usage marking to the table top.

Circa 1960s / early 70s

A superb example of the Glazed Oak Corner Display Cabinet from the workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson of Kilburn. Features adzing to the framework which is only found on the earlier made examples of this item, leaded and glazed door and canted sides, three removable tempered glass shelves, wrought iron fittings anda lovely detailed  signature mouse incised into the  lower right side framework. Excellent condition and medium fumed colour.

An excellent example of a Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Panelled Oak Corner Cabinet with the earlier made adzing to the top and cabinet framework and a lovely signature mouse incised to the lower right framework.  Fixed oak internal shelving, the top shelf cut out to accomodate bottles or taller objects, complete with traditional wrought iron door fittings and original underside fixing bracket. Excellent condition and a rich maturing medium fumed colour.

Circa 1940s

An excellent example of the early made 12″ solid oak Table Lamp from the workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson, standing on a square base with carved leaf forms to the corners rising on a tapering octagonally tooled and carved central column with trinagular decoaration to the top. A wonderfully executed mouse is carved prominently to one facet.  Beautiful  darker fumed and aged colour and in excellent condition. In full working order, rewired with new period 3 core braided wire and new antiqued brass BC switchable bulb holder.

Circa 1960

A unique opportunity to purchase a  bespoke made oak Display Shelf by the talented former Mouseman craftsman Martin ‘Lizardman’ Dutton featuring detailed tracery carved scrolling leaf and flower forms. His signature lizard is carved prominently to the front section  which  supports the shelf plinth. Copper wall fixings to the rear and lower  hole for a screw fixing, accessed by gently withdrawing and twisting slightly to the side, the dowelled interference fitted  carved section which supports the plinth.

Excellent condition and medium colour, with no losses or repairs evident.

Martin Dutton (1921-2009) of Huby, Nr York was a talented craftsman who trained and worked at Thompson’s through the war years. His solo work from the late 40s onwards bears  his distinctive Lizard carving. Martin, who was deaf from birth, later became the senior woodwork teacher at the  Yorkshire Residential School for the Deaf in Doncaster, the lizard carving later continued by his associate Yorkshire craftsman Derek Slater.

Circa 1960s

A superb example of the large freestanding oak Corner Cupboard from the Kilburn workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Adzed tothe top and all the framework with panelled sides and twin opening panelled doors which open to reveal three internal fixed shelves. Traditional wrought iron fittings and standing on carved octagonal legs with a signature mouse carved to one front leg. 

It presents in superb condition inside and out following a clean and re-wax in our workshop, medium fumed from new and clear wax finished.

These corner cupboards are now rare to the market and have not been available to purchase new from Robert Thompsons for 30 years.

An excellent example of a vintage Mouseman 3′ Single Bed with panelled head and footboards and  the earlier adzed framework. Complete with  it’s original Vono metal sprung base which is ready to accept a standard single sized mattress. The sprung base is easily dismantled for transport, secured in place with 4 screw bolts at each  corner.

Excellent condition and maturing medium colour. Great value  compared to the current new price of £ 2,480.

Circa 1940

A superb example of an early made Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Stool with a webbed leather seat. Of rectangular form with four carved and adzed legs joined by stretchers, an excellent typical early mouse carved to a facet of one leg. Darker fumed from new it presents in a rich chestnut brown colour with no loose joints or losses. The original webbed leather seat also presents in excellent condition. Privately purchased from the original owners family and clearly treasured all its life, together with other Mouseman pieces.

Circa 1940

An excellent example of an early Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Book Trough with adzing all over including the rear and underside. The amount of adzing on these pieces has been reduced over the decades and since the late 70s they have only been adzed to the outer quadrant sides. Darker fumed from new it presents with a rich chestnut brown colour and also features an upwards facing mouse which is much rarer to see on these particular pieces. Excellent overall condition with no staining, there is just some evidence of an old  small splinter lift where the base ledge is pinned at an angle through to the side.It’s been reglued and sits tight and flush and is shown in the image gallery below.
