Circa 1950s / early 60s

An excellent example of Robert Mouseman Thompson small bookcase featuring two adjustable shelves and the sought after earlier period adzing to the side panels as well as the top. More modern examples only feature adzing to the top. Excellent incised and detailed mouse carved to the lower side panel. Wonderful aged deep honey colour, cleaned and waxed with no stains, damage or evidence of repair, just very minor age related  wood shrinkage and a hairline to the single planked rear panel. Originates from the same ownership as the recently sold bespoke pair of 1953 dated Mouseman hall settles.

An excellent example of the sought after Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson oak horseshoe pin dish. Lovely condition, rich depth of colour with a particularly fine and very high backed mouse.

One of a pair we have acquired, made at the same time, by the same craftsman. (See also DS1581).

Circa 1990s

A rarely seen on the market pen tray from ex mouseman carftsman Lyndon ‘Catandmouseman’ Hammell of Harmby, Nr Leyburn. It presents in excellent  lighter fumed waxed condition and is tooled to  all upper surfaces.  Lyndon’s carved signature is placed prominently in high relief in the centre of the pen tray.

Lyndon sadly passed away in March this year.

Circa 1960s/early 70s

A superb example of a Robert Mouseman Thompson  table lighter complete with it’s original chromed metal Ronson lighter unit. The lighter unit has been cleaned, fitted with a new flint, gassed and is in full working order. The faceted oak surround is also in excellent condition and a warm naturally aged honey colour and a signature mouse is carved in high relief to one facet. The original baize lining is on the base.

Please note that the butane gas would need to be removed if postage is required as the post office and all other carriers prohibit the posting of any gas filled items.

Circa 1930s/40s

An excellent and sought after heavily tooled early oak block candlestick from the Robert Mouseman Thompson’s workshop in Kilburn, a signature mouse carved prominently to the top edge of the block. Wonderfully grained with a rich dark oak colour and no losses, damage or repair.

A very rare to market pair of oak carved book bookends from the Wetwang workshop of ex mouseman craftsman Peter Rabbitman Heap.  Adzed all over with his trademark rabbit carved prominently to the top of each bookend.  Lovely condition and a rich deep colour, with just slightloss and wear to the lower rear corner  of one bookend (shown in the image gallery below).

Circa 1960s/70s

An excellent and rare to market oak table lamp from the York workshop of Herbert Bird. We are not sure if he was a mouseman trained craftsman but his work is certainly of a high quality and  in the Mouseman and Yorkshire Critter’s tradition, featuring extensive adzing and his distinctive Kingfisher carving. Acquired privately from a York estate we have wax polished the wood and replaced the original electrics with a new antiqued brass switchable bulb holder, new 3 core earthed period style braided lead  and a 3amp fused plug. It’s now in excellent condition and working order.

Circa late 1940s/early 50s

An unusual and very rarely seen oak table lamp from the workshops of Robert ‘Kingpost’ Ingham who traded  from Burton Leonard near Harrogate until the late 1950s. In working order on acquision from a private estate it was still fitted with it’s original small 2 pin circular bakelite plug. Cleaned and refitted with a new antiqued brass switchable bulbholder, new period 3 core braided lead and 3amp fused plug. Adzed all over, with an octagonal base and tapering square stem it presents in excellent waxed condition and with his trademark Kingpost beams carved prominently to the front of the base.

Circa 1930s

A stunning early kneehole desk from the Kilburn workships of Robert Mouseman Thompson with three drawers on either side. Adzed to all surfaces including the panels, in line with early craftsmanship. Sympathetically cleaned of accumulated grease, grime and some ink staining on the desktop surface before repolishing with  a clear Liberon wax which highlights the superb natural darker fumed and aged chestnut brown colour tones of the wood.

A  superb  and highly sought after early Mouseman Cheeseboard with the most amazing dark fumed naturally aged earthy brown colour and patina, adzed all over including the underside and handle, the mouse carved boldly to the board. Excellent condition, very minor usage marking. An excellent piece for collectors of early work.
