Circa 1970s

A rare and unusual solid oak gavel, block and display stand by the Yorkshire craftsman  Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger who’s family business, founded in 1957 by his father George, traded as Acorn Industries in Brandsby, near Easingwold.

Excellent condition and colour with his signature acorn carved prominently to the display stand.

Excellent example of the popular Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson solid oak magazine rack of V shaped form on feet with carved  end uprights and a carrying handle with signature mouse in high relief.

Circa 1990s/2000

An excellent Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson solid oak four branch chandelier. Features a ceiling mounted boss with an octagonal central stem with handcarved oak leaves and acorns to the bottom finial. Excellent signature mouse carved in high relief to the upper part of the centre stem. Four cruciform style arms with upwards facing BC22 bayonet bulb holders.

Excellent condition and colour, medium fumed and clear wax finished.

Offered for sale individually, however, it is one of a pair should a client be looking for two matching chandeliers. See also DS2974 for the other piece.

Currently £ 2,310 to buy new.

Clients may well have their own shades in mind, but we also have a maximum of 10 handcrafted high quality parchment and pressed flower shades available on a first come first served basis, should they be required. They came with the two chandeliers and a pair of Mouseman wall lights we have purchased. One has some scorching to the inside, the others look perfect. They are shown in the image gallery below. They are available separately at £ 30 each (fixed price, except for the one with inner scorching).

Unlike more modern made examples  it is adzed to the sides as well as the top with a very finely carved mouse incised into the lower side panel. Two adjustable shelves with a full compliment of shelf supports.

Superb condition and lovely medium fumed and aged depth of colour.

Listed individually it is one of a pair that we have from the same original ownership. (See DS2993). We will be happy to discuss a price for the pair.

A wonderful deep and richly coloured turned oak fruitbowl by Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger. Acorn signature to the exterior and original leather lined base.

There is a glued natural grain split leading to the rim which is shown in the image gallery so the fruitbowl is priced accordingly.

Circa 1980s

An excellent example of the  highly popular solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson standard lamp, the tapered adzed octagonally carved central column leading down to a stepped, swept and facetted octagonal base with  a mouse signature in high relief.

Medium oak colour, brass BC22 bayonet bulb fitting and  new period braided three core earthed wiring and plug which we think looks much better than the pvc sheathed wiring on Mouseman lamps.

Circa 1970s/80s

An excellent  example of the solid oak Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson  2 tier trolley or side table. Of typical rectangular form with two heat resistant shelves, supported on  four square legs and feet with shaped finials  and a signature mouse carved to the top of one. Standing on  its original Kenrick Shepherd  castors.

Excellent clean condition and original medium fumed oak colour, gently cleaned and clear wax polished with only the faintest of usage marks.

Circa 1930s/40s

An excellent example of the extremely popular earlier made 9 ½″ diameter solid oak Fruitbowl by Robert Thompson, the ‘Mouseman’ of Kilburn. Tooled all over  with a neat and compact signature mouse carved to the exterior side of the bowl. From about 1960 the bowls have been larger but shallower, and the mice have been carved to the centre of the bowl.

Excellent condition and patina with lovely darker fumes aged colour, no wood splits or repairs, just the usual expected minor fruit acid marking in the bowl from usage, adding to the character and patina of these sought after bowls.
