An excellent large solid oak and leather seated armchair from the ex mouseman craftsman Robert (Bob) ‘Wrenman’ Hunter of Thirlby near Thirsk. Aged 91 and still working, he is the last surviving craftsman to have trained directly under Robert Thompson himself.(Robert Thompson 1876-1955). Of four legged rectangular form with a solid oak panelled back and excellent original leather hide seat secured by upholstery pins. Bob’s signature wren carved in low relief to the centre of the back panel. No fire safety label to the underside which confirms it would be made pre 1989 when this became mandatory on new upholstered furniture.

Excellent condition and patina to the wood and upholstery. Tight framework joints all round.
