Stock ref: DS1624
Circa 1970
An excellent privately acquired oak Writing Bureau / Cupboard, which although unusually unmarked, is recalled as having been made by Colin ‘Beaverman’ Almack, when based in Thirsk for the original owners. Their son and daughter still vividly recall using it to complete their homework in the 1970s. We are also aware of an almost identical but slightly later made piece being sold by Tennants Auctioneers, Leyburn, so are confident in the attribution to Colin Almack. Adzed to all visible surfaces with a panelled fall front upper section which opens to reveal a leather inlaid writing desk and shelved interior. Below is a multi panelled twin door cupboard, with a central fixed shelf within. Excellent waxed condition and rich colour, the interior clean with minimal light usage marks. The key for the lock fitted to the upper section has unfortunately been lost, but new replacement locks/keys are widely avilable should purchasers wish to be able to lock the upper section.
