Stock ref: DS1383
Circa early 1970s
A superb bespoke made 5’7″(l) x 3’6″(w) solid english oak oval dining table complete with five leather seated dining chairs and one carver armchair, made by ex mouseman craftsman Don ‘Foxman’ Craven who made furniture in Aldborough, Nr Boroughbridge in the 60s and into the mid/late 70s, each piece carved with a distinctive bushy tailed seated fox. Following Don’s retirement Malcolm Pipes later adopted the fox, all his work featuring a foxes face.
Lovingly cherished from new the adzed table features highly unusual and expensive to make twin cruciform legs joined by a stretcher. Most unusually foxes are carved to both end of the table legs. The condition of the adzed top is superb, testiment to careful ownership and the use of a table protector when not in use (which is also avilable to the new owners). The chairs are all solid and the original owners advise that the seat pads were re-leathered approximately 15 years ago, all remain in super condition with just very light usgae scuffs to the leather.
