Stock ref: DS1084

Circa 1910

Designed by Ambrose Heal  in the Cotswold School Arts and Crafts  style circa 1910 and retailed through their famous London store.  Solid oak construction throughout featuring protruding chamfered leg stiles and  a two drawer chest over a large panelled twin door storage cupboard which  has 2 fitted shelves.  The Heal & Son ivorine label is in place on the lip of one of the drawers. The cabinet currently sits on castors which aids manouvrability, but these are later additions. The cupboard is lockable and, whilst the lock is intact, unfortunately the key has been lost in the past.

The cabinet is is very good overall condition with  good figuring to the oak, a mellowing  antique oak colour, no loose joints or any obvious damage or repairs just the expected scratching and minor staining to the top and inner shelves from 100 years of normal everyday usage.

Ambrose Heal (1872 – 1959) was a pioneer of the mass production of   home furniture based on Arts and Crafts design and construction, enabling the working and middle classes to afford stylish well made pieces.
