Robert Thompson ‘Mouseman’ Rare Early Reading Chair

Circa early 1930s

A very rare and always highly sought after Robert Mouseman Thompson reclining reading chair with an adjustable book rest. The  chair framework presents in exceptional condition following a clean and re-wax in our workshop with no damage or evidence of earlier repairs. It features an adjustable ladder back with latticed leather base, shaped arms each with holes for the adjustable book rest and solid sides with shaped supports. The seat cushions are not original but could be replaced with new leather cushions as would have been fitted originally. It presents in a rich waxed chestnut brown colour and, excepionally for a Mouseman piece, it has been carved with three mice. Currently on castors but these are easily removed being a push fit into sockets.

We have a waiting list of clients for these chairs, if you have one and are considering selling it please contact us for a confidential no-obligation discussion.
