Robert Thompson ‘Mouseman’ Early 12” Oak Breadboard

Stock ref: DS1513

Circa 1930s/40s

An excellent example of an early Mouseman breadboard with adzing to the front and rear and  the side edges more steeply cut than on 50s onwards boards, leaving a larger board cutting surface. Darker fumed from new with a wonderful rich depth of colour and an excellent detailed and very prominently carved mouse. Minor knife marks on the board to evidence usage as intended and a very minor nick to the lower ear of the mouse carving, all shown n the image gallery below. The piece is also shown photographed next to a 1970s example of a breadboard we currently have for sale. Single family ownership from new until  we privately acquired directly from them.
