Malcolm ‘Foxman’ Pipes Glazed Oak Corner Display Cabinet

Stock ref: DS2110

Circa 1980s

An early example of his work under his own name. Glazed and leaded upper display cabinet with single door and 3 inner glass shelves. Below is a panelled single doored cupboard with inner shelf.  All the outer woodwork and panelling is subtly adzed and the fittings are in wrought iron. Malcolm’s signature foxes head in high relief lower left of the glazed section.

Photographed as acquired, prior to cleaning, refurbishing  and re-waxing which is included in the price quoted below.

There is currently some very light paint flecking to upper facing surfaces and general fading and light marking to the waxed finish which will clean out during refurbishment.  There’s a natural shrinkage to a wooden joint visible on one rear side back board which we intend to  rectify, but the piece is structurally sound with no breakages to the tempered glass shelves. If you are happy to take the piece as it is photographed please contact us directly for pricing. It can be seen and inspected in our Preston Antique Centre showroom during normal opening hours.

Malcolm is a  former ‘Mouseman’ craftsman who trained in the early 1960s and left in 1981 to set up his own workshop in Carlton Husthwaite. He is the second ex mouseman craftsman to  adopt a fox as his signature, the earlier craftsman being Don Craven who was active in the 60s and 70s.  Malcolm has now retired and closed his business.
