Circa 1940s / early 50s

A superb example of the earlier made solid English oak Book Trough from the workshops of Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson. Rich  dark fumed colour with adzing to the sides, book ledge and the rear of the piece, in line with earlier craftsmanship. Excellent mouse carving, carved running upwards which is harder to carve as it’s against the grain of the wood.
