A superb 3′ solid oak writing bureau by the ex Mouseman craftsman Peter ‘Rabbitman’ Heap of Wetwang, East Yorkshire who set up Oak Rabbit Crafts in 1970.

Of rectangular form the top with pegged and cleated ends. A lockable fall front, with original key, opens to rest on two pull out lopers and reveals a writing desk and numerous storage compartments. Below are two short over 2 long drawers with ample space to store all manner of household items, all wonderfully clean internally. Pegged and panelled construction throughout and a superb medium fumed colour with no evidence of staining. Peter’s signature rabbit is carved in high relief to the front right canted corner edge. Cleaned and wax polished in our workshop.

Sourced from the original owners family, available to the new owner with the original invoice which shows it cost £ 2016.99 in April 1992, the equivalent of £ 5,150 today. For information, the current price for the ‘Mouseman’ item which is of similar size and construction is £ 8,400, making it particularly good value.
