Stock ref: DS1823
Circa 1950s
A excellent pair of 3 branch oak Ceiling Chandeliers from the the workshop of Yorkshire Critters craftsman Robert ‘Kingpost’ Ingham. He traded from Burton Leonard near Harrogate until the late 1950s, before retiring and selling most of the assets of the business, including the design rights and his remaining stock, to Alan ‘Acornman’ Grainger when he founded Acorn Industries in 1957.
This is one of several Acornman and Kingpost ceiling chandeliers we have acquired privately from the original owners family which were purchased at various times, the earliest in the 1950s, through to circa 1990.
They feature a 3 branch light fitting with arms connecting centrally to a hexagonal central hub with a signature carved kingpost roof beam to one facet. A hexagonal central column rises, to which is fitted a wrought iron or brass hanging chain and octagonal oak ceiling rose. The original old 2 strand wiring has been replaced with new modern 3 core wiring and new earthed brass fittings, and they are ready to connect and use.
These differ only very slightly from the later made acornman examples we also have for sale (DS1822-1, DS1822-2) in that the wiring is laid in a channel on the top side of the branch arms. One chain is plated brass, the other wrought iron.
Offered individually or as a pair, but can also be purchased together with any of the other Acornman examples. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Size: 52(dia) x 24 to 55(h)cm, max incl chains and ceiling rose.
