Circa 1960s

An excellent characterful and richly coloured Mouseman calf stool from  the workshops of Robert Thompson’s. Traditional kidney shaped and subtly adzed seat supported by three octagonally carved legs which are wedge jointed through the  top of the seat. The seat is in a lovely stain free condition with just a few minor indentations in the wood, commensurate with normal usage and features the more curved and rounded  edge associated with earlier made pieces. The leg joints are tight, there is just an old minor wood split to one leg which looks to have occurred when the wedge has been inserted into the leg joint on the top. A particularly well carved mouse is carved prominently to the front facing edge.
