Circa early 1970s

An excellent example of the popular 5′ solid oak sideboard by Robert ‘ Mouseman’ Thompson. Of rectangular form with adzed top and rear upstand, the top having particularly good figuring and natural burrs. Below, a central bank of three graduated drawers, the top one with its original baize lining in good condition. To either side are shelved storage cupboards with traditional wrought iron door fittings. A very well detailed mouse is carved to the front right canted corner edge. Standing on four octagonally carved feet. The piece is adzed to the top, frame and drawer fronts, in line with manufacturing standards in the early 1970s period. More modern pieces are only adzed to the top.

Excellent original condition, medium fumed with clear wax finish. The only very minor issue we have found is what looks to be slight chew marks on one of the lower drawer knobs, shown in the image gallery below.
