Stock ref: DS1851
Circa 1940
An excellent example of an early Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Book Trough with adzing all over including the rear and underside. The amount of adzing on these pieces has been reduced over the decades and since the late 70s they have only been adzed to the outer quadrant sides. Darker fumed from new it presents with a rich chestnut brown colour and also features an upwards facing mouse which is much rarer to see on these particular pieces. Excellent overall condition with no staining, there is just some evidence of an old small splinter lift where the base ledge is pinned at an angle through to the side. It’s been reglued and sits tight and flush and is shown in the image gallery below.
