Circa late 1990s

An excellent example of a modern made Mouseman book trough from the workshops of Robert Thompson with a wonderful depth of colour, particularly fine quarter sawn graining and age typical adzing to the side panels. Purchased directly from Gavin Kirkbride, a Mouseman craftsman from 1993 to 2007 and in his personal ownership ever since he made it himself whilst working there. Gavin went on to establish Lily Furniture, his own bespoke oak furniture business in 2007 locally in Northallerton and we now regularly work together on various projects, with Gavin being our main technical advisor and restorer when any repair work is required. I’m sure Gavin will be willing to confirm the provenance on this piece to any purchaser.
