Stock ref: DS1955
Circa 1980s
A superb early made example of the sought after Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Oak Money Box, modelled as a wedge of Cheese and first introduced in the 1980s. Of quite different dimensions to the modern version and with the mouse carved in high relief to the top slotted side of the money box, the modern version just has a porthole mouse carving, saving on wood and carving time. Beautifully handcarved from a block of the best quality quarter sawn oak and tooled to all visible surfaces, the medullary ray graining visible in the wood. A screwed wooden base plate allows entry to retrieve your savings.
Superb condition with no losses and a rich deepening medium colour.
