Circa early 1930s

A very rare and always highly sought after Robert Mouseman Thompson reclining reading chair with an adjustable book rest. The  chair framework presents in superb original condition with no damage or evidence of earlier repairs. It features an adjustable ladder back with latticed leather base, shaped arms each with holes for the removable adjustable book rest and solid sides with shaped supports. A signature mouse is carved to the front of the chair and on the top of the book rest. After some discussion the seat cushions are thought to be original to the chair and remain usable should you wish to retain full originality. New replacement leather or fabric cushions could also be made, if you wished.

Darker fumed from new, it presents in excellent original rich dark fumed and waxed colour and patina with solid  joints.

Wonderfully looked after all its life, originally commissioned by Dr. W.H. Dickinson a renowned physician in Newcastle and subsequently passed onto his direct descendants, from whom it has been privately purchased.
