Stock ref: DS1503
Circa mid 1950s / early 60s
An unusual example of the early made Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson Nest of tables. These early mouseman tables are of smaller overall dimensions than the tables made from the mid 1960s onwards, the largest being 18″ x 14″, the smallest being 9 1/2″ square. This particular early example was bespoke ordered to have the mice carved to what would usually be regarded as the rear legs on the two larger tables, so that when they are being used individually and the open ended sides(missing the lower stretchers) are placed to the rear, the mice will appear on the front.
Excellent condition and rich colour, the tops featuring the rare, sought after and sitinctively dark grained brown oak.
Acquired privately from the same original ownership as the bespoke made drinks / cocktail cabinet ( see stock ref: DS1502 in our sold archive).
