Stock ref: DS1576
Circa late 1920s/early 30s
A rare and very early example of a Robert ‘Mouseman’Thompson Burr oak Bureau, adzed all over as is usual on early pieces. It features a wave edged moulding to the top section, rear upstand and a pull down front supported on bespoke made wrought iron fittings. The front pulls down flat to reveal shelved storage compartments within. There are two deep drawers below. All the drawer knobs feature the very early hand tooled finish. A signature mouse is carved in high relief to the lower section of one of the canted front corners.
It presents in superb condition following a clean to remove accumulated grime and stains and a full re-wax in our workshop. It’s finished in clear wax which highlights the fumed and natural chestnut tones of the nicely grained and patinated wood.
An excellent piece for the discerning collector of early mouseman furniture.
