Circa 1960s
A wonderful example of the highly popular solid oak blanket / storage box from the ex Mouseman craftsman Sid Pollard of Bagby, near Thirsk. Of rectangular form, panelled and pinned all over with a hinged lid. Most unusually, as the vast majority of his work is unmarked because he liked his craftsmanship to speak for itself, it is brass plaque labelled with his name on the underside of the lid. This was likely at the request of the original owner who commissioned the piece.
In recent years the market has come to regard these particular pieces as highly as, if not more so, than the Mouseman equivalent item, due to the extensive inlaid panelling all over the piece which is not found on most of the Mouseman pieces.
Wonderful condition and rich waxed colour, slightly deeper to the rear and one side which have been hidden from direct light.
Size: 108(w) x 40.5(d) x 58.5(h)cm
