A superb solid oak four legged stoolfrom the Windermere, Cumbria workshop of Stanley Webb Davies, the renowned Cotswold School Arts and Crafts furniture maker. Displaying the very finest cabinet making techniques and skills combined with meticulous attention to the smallest details. Featutres a fabric upholstered drop in seat supported by four octagonally carved legs joined by lower stretchers, with exposed dowel pin and wedged tennon joints.
Stunning golden oak colour and in excellent condition following a gentle clean and wax in our workshop. Signed and dated in the expected SWD manner, made by S A Johnston.
Privately acquired and with excellent provenance, part of a full bedroom suite bespoke made for his older brother William R. Davies and his wife Agnes. Complete with letter from Agnes dated 1974.
